Unilock Patio and Step Rebuild
This Classico circles and curves design patio was in need of some attention due to settling over the years. A common problem in any landscape, is the settlement of the ground underneath the concrete or paver walkways, patio, deck, or landscape beds. This is most common in clay type soils where the back fill and grading were not performed properly, or at the wrong time of year. These patio bricks were pulled up, set aside, cleaned, and then reinstalled using proper base materials and with the correct slope to allow drainage away from the house.

Paver Patio Repair and Maintenance
We have experienced an influx of calls for paver patio repair and maintenance this fall! One of the recently refurbished patios we worked on in Dexter, MI this October was over 20 years old. Over half the calls we respond to relate to Paver Maintenance. Most of these installations were simply in need of some touch up work, while others were needing corrections due to improper installation by contractors who clearly could not manage the task at hand.
With over 16 years of experience in the installation and upkeep of hardscapes, we have seen every scenario and have the resources and staff available to quickly provide a quality service, at a fair and reasonable price.

This beautiful garden is complimented by Holland Stone from Fendt Builder Supply. Old Country Manor block was used to create a step at the recently renovated entry.
Paver Patio Rebuild in Ann Arbor, MI
This recently rebuilt patio and step system in Ann Arbor is now ready for the final step in any hardscape installation; Landscape beds, plantings, and mulch.
As you can see, nature had been reclaiming this patio for years. Paver patios have far less maintenance than wood decks, but still do require some attention at least once a year.
By keeping your paver joints free of grass clippings, dirt, leaves, and moss, this type of situation can be prevented. Also, yearly sweeping of new jointing sand is a necessity. If you would like to avoid the yearly installation of new jointing sand, a quality polymeric sand may be used instead. I used polymeric sand on my own patio 7 years ago, and have only had to add more sand once after a thorough cleaning of my brick pavers.
We also replaced all the rough spruce trim that had moisture damage. After removing all the trim, we discovered that the builder had never completed the exterior enclosure. Furthermore, no insulation had been installed into the structure. We then added insulation, treated plywood to replace all OSB both under the structure and on the walls. Tyvec wrap was also missing and installed. Trim boards installed were AZEC composite materials. Caulk and paint were then applied to seal things up and make the structure ready for the rebuilt steps using the original materials.

Here is another example of the versatility and beauty a brick paver installation can bring. This Unilock, Classico driveway was recently sealed with a gloss sealer that included joint sand stabilizer. One of my personal favorite designs achieved during my time designing and installing brick paver patios, walkways, and driveways.
Front and Side Porch Replacement and New Paver Sidewalk
We were glad for the opportunity to replace the old front and side porch on this home in Ann Arbor with new brick and block from Fendt Builders Supply. The wall and riser material is Old Country Manor, and the Pavers are Old World Vintage. Main color used was Rustic Blend with Limestone coping.
The brick and color selection made by this homeowner were a perfect match for their house. We are very happy with the look this home improvement provided.www.vagoenterprises.com

Unilock Step System With Old Greenwich Paver Landing
This Unilock, Pisa 2 retaining wall block was used to create risers and a porch landing near a pool in Ann Arbor. Old Greenwich pavers were used to create the landings.
Fendt, VIntage Sidewalk. Old Country Manor Steps and Planter
This paver walk leads from a new porch step system to the new concrete pad we installed. A planter enhances the outdoor area next to the paver walkway. We also installed the garden shed onto the new concrete slab.
Drainage Issues Resolved
We have helped many homeowners with drainage issues in their yard. This yard was trapping water next to the house due to the concrete drive diverting water towards the house. We changed the grade to allow drainage away from the house, and installed gutter drains to carry roof water far away from the house and downhill.

Brick Paver Maintenence, Sealer.
Compared to wooden decks, brick paver installations are very easy and economical to maintain. While wooden decks require cleaning and sealing every one to two years, brick pavers only require minor work every three to five years. www.vagoenterprises.com
By keeping your brick paver installation free of dirt, and the joints full of clean jointing or polymeric sand, you can easily enjoy the long term success of your outdoor area. Sealer may be applied every three to five years to maintain color retention, and prevent dirt penetration of the paver surface.
